A commercial zone opened on January 14th from the basement to the first floor of Ark Hills South Tower in Roppongi, Tokyo. The concept is "community-based."
Ark Kitchen on the basement floor houses Fukushimaya, a supermarket with its main store in Hamura, Tokyo, which is involved in a variety of community-based initiatives. The shop-in-shop also includes THE CELLAR Roppongi, a wine corner with a wide selection of brands, primarily natural wines, and BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR COFFEE KIOSK, a coffee corner developed by Shinichiro Nakahara of Landscape Products, who was also responsible for Fukushimaya's interior design. Other nine restaurants include "Toda Wataru's Okonomiyaki Santakan," produced by Toda Wataru, owner of the long-established Osaka okonomiyaki restaurant "Kiji"; "Shotsubo," a popular Japanese izakaya that relocated from Tameike-sanno; and "Chateau Mercian Tokyo Guest Bar," Mercian's first concept wine bar. Direct access is available from the ticket gates of Roppongi-Itchome Station on the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line. The first floor is home to "Chun Shui Tang," a tea specialty cafe popular in Taiwan as the birthplace of bubble tea, and "FERMINTXO BOCA," an authentic Spanish gastrobar. Three-star Michelin restaurant "Sushi Saito" will also relocate from Akasaka Tameike in early February. The "Sunken Garden," a courtyard featuring a 12-meter outdoor waterfall, has also been completed. The commercial zone on the second floor and rooftop area will open in mid-March.
