Jacobsen Salt, a handmade sea salt from Portland, introduces new flavors

Oct 8, 2016

Jacobsen Salt, a popular salt brand from Portland, USA, is renewing its packaging this fall and releasing two new flavors. To coincide with this, a tasting fair is being held at the Isetan Shinjuku store.

Jacobsen Salt is handmade flake salt made using the traditional open-pan method from the cold seawater of Netarts Bay, Oregon. Enjoy its pure, clean taste and the crunchy texture of its large flakes. Its excellent adhesion and blendability make it ideal as a finishing salt for salads, vegetable dishes, and various oven-baked dishes.

The two new flavors being released are black garlic and rosemary. The black garlic (99g/2,100 yen) is carefully caramelized, highlighting the sweetness and savory flavor of black garlic for a striking flavor. Sprinkle it on duck dishes or a simple tomato salad for a rich, flavorful finish. Another new flavor, Rosemary (100g/2,100 yen), is made using only fresh rosemary leaves, soaked in kosher salt until they turn a vibrant green. It can be used in a variety of dishes, including fish and meat dishes, and fresh pasta.

Pla d'Epicerie Grand Artisan, located on the first basement floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku, is currently holding a fair where you can try Jacobsen Salt for yourself. The fair runs until October 11th.
