Maruyama Coffee has released a new product, "Coffee Chestnut Tart," in collaboration with Obusedo, a long-established chestnut confectionery shop representing Shinshu, for a limited time.

Jun 14, 2021
Maruyama Coffee Co., Ltd. (Karuizawa, Karuizawa-machi, Kitasaku-gun, Nagano Prefecture) will begin selling the new "Obusedo x Maruyama Coffee Coffee Chestnut Tart" on June 15th as a limited-time summer gift item. The new product was developed in collaboration with Obusedo, a long-established chestnut confectionery shop representing Shinshu, located in Obuse, Nagano Prefecture, a town famous for its chestnuts.

Maruyama Coffee x Obusedo Product Collaboration

Chestnut confectionery and coffee go together well, and our company and Obusedo have previously collaborated on the development of chestnut confectionery and coffee collaboration products. In 2018, Maruyama Coffee began offering a pairing set of Obusedo's chestnut sweets and coffee at its directly managed stores, and in 2019, the company launched its first commercial product, the autumn specialty "Coffee Dorayaki." The newly released "Coffee Chestnut Tart" is the second collaboration product.

The secret to its deliciousness lies in the pursuit of the ideal flavor through repeated trial and error

The new "Coffee Chestnut Tart" is a coffee-flavored version of the "Chestnut Kanoko Tart," a flaky tart filled with Obusedo's specialty "Kuri Kanoko" chestnuts.

Maruyama Coffee baristas worked with Obusedo's artisans to develop the product, changing the type of coffee, grain size, and powder ratio, as well as which parts of the tart to use coffee in, and conducting repeated testing to find the ideal flavor.

By kneading Maruyama Coffee Blend powder into the almond dough and baking it, the crispy tart dough and the rich, full-bodied flavor of chestnut kanoko are harmoniously combined with the almond dough, which retains the texture of coffee, resulting in a fragrant aftertaste.

Made with Maruyama Coffee Blend

The Maruyama Coffee Blend used in the tart is Maruyama Coffee's signature blend coffee, beloved since the company's founding.
Since its release, the flavor has gradually evolved to suit the times, but the gorgeous aroma and clean aftertaste have remained unchanged. It has a rich aroma and a deep, full-bodied flavor from a deep roast.
