From March 23rd to 28th, Isetan Shinjuku is hosting the "Kyoto Rekidai Noren Market," an event gathering Kyoto's long-established gourmet food and miscellaneous goods, in the store's 6th floor event hall. The theme is "cherry blossom viewing." The venue showcases exquisite sweets and luxurious bento boxes perfect for cherry blossom viewing, as well as elegant items perfect for bringing along. Shimogamo Saryo, a long-established Kyoto cuisine restaurant founded in 1856 and steeped in history and tradition, is introducing the "Rikyu Gozen" (limited to 50 servings per day, 2,000 yen, exclusive to Isetan Shinjuku). Bamboo shoot rice is lavishly topped with spring-inducing vegetables, including shrimp and scallops. Cherry blossom petals adorn the bento throughout, creating a truly exquisite dish that evokes the atmosphere of Kyoto. Kaden Kyoame Gion Koishi's featured menu item is "Maiko-han's Favorite Parfait in Koicha Style" (1,250 yen, Isetan Shinjuku store only, limited to 100 servings per day), a luxurious parfait with refreshing rare cheese filled with plenty of Uji matcha. Also making its first appearance is Goken Uiroya's "Hanami Uiro" (161 yen), a fresh uiro that comes in three flavors: cherry blossom, white, and matcha. Combined with the shop's "Odama Mitarashi Dango" (5 pieces for 800 yen), these are cherry blossom viewing sweets perfect for enjoying after a cherry blossom viewing bento. The venue also features a special teahouse-style eat-in corner called "Kyoraku Chaya," where you can enjoy dishes like Izu's "Saba Sugata Sushi" (4 pieces for 1,500 yen), Torimatsu's "Amino Specialty Bara Chirashi" (with soup for 850 yen), Bunnosuke Chaya's "Hana Ikada" (only available at Isetan Shinjuku, 30 servings per day for 800 yen), and Matsuba's soy milk-based "Wakana Soba" (900 yen). Mishimatei's "Beef Shigure Bento" (1,800 yen) and Izuman's "Sakura Komachi Kamaboko" (limited to 15 items per day for 500 yen) are also on sale. There's also a wide selection of "miscellaneous items" to bring to your cherry blossom viewing. Ichihara Heibei Shoten's "Miyakohashi Susutake" (4,400 yen) are handmade chopsticks made from durable sooty bamboo. Bringing them along with the "Bamboo Chopstick Box" (3,800 yen) to your cherry blossom viewing experience will create an elegant, Kyoto-style atmosphere. Ippuuya, a textile goods retailer, offers an "Insulated Bag" (2,779 yen, exclusive to Isetan Shinjuku, limited to 30 pieces) with an insulated drawstring pouch, perfect for carrying your cherry blossom viewing lunch. Oike, a bamboo product retailer, has released the "Young Bamboo Sake Set" (2,800 yen) and "Ginomi" (1,200 yen) made from bamboo painted in a green bamboo color. Enjoying sake with these during your cherry blossom viewing experience will be a delight. There are also plenty of unusual items recommended by venue staff. Other products on offer include green tea bags with a cherry blossom scent (3g x 10 packs, limited to 50 items, 600 yen), Yamada Oil's "Sesame Dressing" (limited to 50 items, 800 yen), Shichimiya Honpo's "Yakishime Sakura" (15g of shichimi, 1,650 yen), served in Shimizu-yaki pottery with a cherry blossom petal pattern, and Seigado Touen's Pelican teapot (limited to 10 items, 12,000 yen), which is easy to pour without spilling tea leaves.
