This spring, a photo exhibition titled "Kimura Ihei: Afterimages of Paris" will be held in Kyoto. A glimpse into the streets of Paris and the drama of ordinary people.

Feb 17, 2016

Photographer Kimura Ihei's photo exhibition, "Kimura Ihei: Afterimages of Paris," will be held at the Eki Kyoto Museum of Art from April 1st to 24th.
Kimura, the founding president of the Japan Professional Photographers Association, was the first Japanese photographer to travel to Europe after the war. In 1954, he finally fulfilled his dream of traveling to France, and, inspired by French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, traveled around Paris, photographing it himself.
The exhibition features Kimura's works capturing the streets of Paris and the drama of everyday life in the downtown area. Approximately 130 color works offer a glimpse into the charm of Paris of the past. Photographer Tanuma Takeyoshi will hold gallery talks at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM on April 1st, and photographer Imamori Mitsuhiko will hold gallery talks at the same times on April 9th.
