Ferrari SF90 Spider
The spider version of Maranello's most powerful production supercar makes its debut in a special digital event
The SF90 Spider, a spider version of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, is the Prancing Horse's first production plug-in hybrid spider.
This new convertible boasts the same extreme supercar specifications and record-breaking performance as the SF90 Stradale, but with added excitement and versatility. This is due in part to the latest version of Ferrari's unique retractable hardtop, which first debuted on the mid-rear-engine Berlinetta in 2011. The new SF90 Spider fundamentally redefines the supercar concept, making it the ideal vehicle for owners seeking the pinnacle of Ferrari technology while also enjoying the thrill of driving with the roof down.

The SF90 Spider's plug-in hybrid system guarantees a level of performance unmatched by any other production spider. The 780 cv turbo V8 is augmented by three electric motors, one at the rear and two at the front, to produce a staggering 1,000 cv. Sophisticated control logic automatically monitors and adjusts power flow according to usage, ensuring an uncomplicated driving experience.
The driver simply selects one of the power unit modes (eDrive, Hybrid, Performance or Qualify) using the new e-Manettino, then gets behind the wheel and enjoys an exhilarating driving experience. Like the SF90 Stradale, the SF90 Spider is also equipped with all-wheel drive, which raises the bar for standing starts and enables unparalleled new speeds: 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 7.0 seconds.

The mechanical layout adopted by the engineers in Maranello also enables further development of the vehicle dynamics control system. The system, named “eSSC”, monitors the vehicle's dynamics in real time.
Based on this information, the front electric motor controls vehicle stability by individually distributing torque (torque vectoring) to the inside and outside wheels. This significantly improves traction out of corners and makes driving on the limit simpler, more intuitive and more confident.

In terms of aerodynamics, the car generates a maximum downforce of 390 kg at 250 km/h. This is the absolute benchmark for downforce and aerodynamic efficiency among Ferrari road cars, and it achieves this without relying on aerodynamic add-ons. It also makes use of a number of innovative, patented solutions, including the Shutoff Gurney, an adjustable system at the rear of the car that adapts to driving conditions, and the wing shape of the forged wheels, which are reminiscent of the blown geometry of Ferrari F1 cars.

The design of the SF90 Spider began with staying as faithful as possible to the distinctive styling of the SF90 Stradale. The Ferrari Styling Center meticulously crafted the tonneau cover area, ensuring it blends seamlessly with the rest of the car. Even more impressive, despite the addition of a storage compartment for the retractable hardtop (RHT), the V8 remains clearly visible through the engine bay cover. This means the V8 remains the center of attention whether the RHT is deployed or retracted.
The track-born philosophy of "eyes on the road, hands on the wheel" drives the interior ergonomics and styling, resulting in an innovative new Human Machine Interface (HMI). The new steering wheel now features a touchpad, allowing the driver to control virtually every aspect of the vehicle without taking their hands off the wheel.
The central instrument cluster is now a fully digital 16-inch curved HD screen, which can be configured and operated entirely using the steering wheel controls. The automatic gearbox controls, located on the centre tunnel, feature a grille style that evokes Ferrari's traditional and beautiful manual shift gate.

Like all Prancing Horse Spiders, the SF90 Spider is equipped with a Retractable Hard Top (RHT). When deployed, the RHT provides noise insulation, wind and weather protection, and maintains its shape even at high speeds, providing excellent interior space and comfort. Remarkably light, compact and simple, it can be deployed or deployed in just 14 seconds, even while the vehicle is moving.

The key to the success of the Ferrari RHT is that it requires just 100 litres of storage space, compared to the 150-200 litres required by conventional systems. And thanks to its aluminium construction, it is around 40kg lighter than a standard retractable hardtop. And the adjustable electric rear window ensures exceptional comfort, even when driving at speed with the roof down.
And like the SF90 Stradale, the SF90 Spider is available in a range of exclusive specifications for owners who want to push the limits of its track-ready capabilities.

The “Assetto Fiorano” includes exclusive upgrades that differ significantly from the standard specification, the most notable of which are the Multimatic shock absorbers, which were developed from Ferrari's experience in GT racing and are optimized for circuit driving.

In addition, the use of high-performance materials (such as carbon fiber and titanium) has reduced the vehicle's weight by 21 kg, and the rear spoiler is also made of carbon fiber. The tires are road-legal Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2, with a softer compound and fewer grooves for improved performance on dry track surfaces. The Assetto Fiorano is also available with a special two-tone paint job as an option, further emphasizing its track-ready status.
This latest model offers an unparalleled sense of exhilaration and a comfortable driving experience every time you get behind the wheel, so be sure to check it out for yourself.
