WHAT, a contemporary art collector's museum operated by Warehouse TERRADA Co., Ltd., will hold the exhibition "Inside the Collector's Vault, Vol. 1: Unleashed Collections" from December 12, 2020 to May 30, 2021.
With art storage as its core business, we offer services such as art restoration, transportation, and exhibitions. In addition, we operate art and culture facilities such as the art supply lab "PIGMENT TOKYO" and Japan's largest gallery complex, "TERRADA ART COMPLEX," working to develop Tennozu into a major art hub.
In recent years, with the rise of globally active contemporary artists, contemporary art has become a commonplace part of everyday life, appearing in museums, commercial facilities, hospitals, local art events, and streetscapes. However, many people still view contemporary art as difficult or intimidating.

"WHAT," a contemporary art collector's museum opening on December 12th, is an art and culture facility that aims to publicly display the valuable art assets entrusted to and stored by Warehouse TERRADA by collectors, and to widely promote their value and appeal. The opening exhibition, "-Inside the Collector's Vault, vol.1- Unleashed Collection," will explore the appeal of contemporary art by focusing on a collection of approximately 70 pieces, including new and never-before-seen works, amassed by two collectors based on their own perspectives and values.
Various events are also planned to be held during the exhibition period. Details will be announced on the official website as they become available.

About WHAT
"WHAT," which will be opening in Tennoz, is a new art and culture facility aimed at making public the valuable art assets that our company has received from collectors and stored. We sought to define what "an art facility should be" from the perspective of a warehouse company, and arrived at the idea of an art exhibition facility that would make the works that have been sleeping in the warehouse available to the public, creating an opportunity for people to encounter works that Japan's leading collectors have collected based on their own value standards. The name of the facility, "WHAT (WAREHOUSE OF ART)," embodies the unique concept of "opening up the warehouse to take a peek at art that is not normally on public display." The museum will exhibit works by artists active in the contemporary art scene, along with the thoughts of collectors, and, unlike the permanent exhibitions of typical art museums, will rotate the works from time to time, creating a new viewing space that changes its appearance with each visit. Furthermore, the ARCHI-DEPOT Museum, the precursor to "WHAT," which has been storing and exhibiting works since 2016, will change its name to "ARCHI-DEPOT Project" and will continue to hold architecture-related exhibitions within the facility.
