Dior has unveiled Maria Grazia Chiuri's Spring/Summer 2021 ready-to-wear collection.
©ELINA KECHICHEVAWith this collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri explores the origins of fashion, the artistic language of "cut" in perpetual movement, and the meaning of creation.
Inspired by the work of Lucia Marcucci, an icon of Italian avant-garde experimental art who created the show's scenography, Maria Grazia incorporated collage as a new medium of expression and the beauty of "visual" poetry into the show.

©ADRIEN DIRANDPatchwork scarves, paisley and floral motifs, and romantic lace dresses and pants invite the imagination to explore new horizons.

Fascinated by the ideas and talents of female writers such as Virginia Woolf and Susan Sontag, the brand also takes inspiration from their outfits. Additionally, the menswear-inspired shirts and sleek coats are designed to celebrate techniques born from cultures around the world, from Japan to Indonesia.

The short film shown prior to the show was created specially for the show by film director Alina Marazzi. It explores her free-spirited thinking and traces the archives of Lucia Marcucci, who was the key inspiration for the collection.
Lucia Ronchetti's choral piece "Sangu di rosa" also left a powerful impression on the show. The lyrics quote the ancient funeral song "Voceri," and the "Sequenza 9.3" ensemble portrayed the voices of women burdened with grief.
