Located right outside the central exit of JR Kyoto Station, Charyo FUKUCHA, run by the long-established tea shop Fukujuen, is offering five seasonal sweets made with chestnuts and fruits that perfectly complement its specialty Uji tea for a limited time. The matcha and roasted green tea chestnut parfaits are limited to 10 servings per day. The three other items, the chestnut roasted green tea monaka, the tea-scented Mont Blanc, and the matcha amazake shiruko, are also available for takeout, so you can enjoy them outdoors or at home. Be sure to enjoy them as you experience autumn in Kyoto.

● Matcha Chestnut Parfait (photo on the left)
A colorful parfait filled with tea, with the subtle bitterness of matcha cream as an accent to bring out the rustic flavor of chestnut, and hidden inside are white peach, red peas, shiratama (rice flour dumplings), mizu manju (water buns), warabi mochi (bracken-starch dumplings), and matcha syrup.

● Hojicha Chestnut Parfait (photo on the right)
A parfait that really evokes autumn, with hojicha cream that brings out the chestnut flavor, and figs, red peas, shiratama (rice flour dumplings), mizu manju (water dumplings), warabi mochi (bracken-starch dumplings), and hojicha syrup.
1,200 yen (limited to 10 servings per day)
 
 
● Chestnut Hojicha Monaka
Specially made bean paste that pairs perfectly with chestnut is combined with fragrant hojicha chocolate cream, and served inside a cute flower-shaped mochi.

● Tea-scented Mont Blanc
FUKUCHA's proud Mont Blanc is made with Mont Blanc cream that is a balanced combination of Japanese chestnuts and French chestnuts, accented with the subtle bitterness and flavor of matcha.

We've added the flavor of matcha to the naturally sweet amazake and combined it with the perfect ingredients of chestnut, sweet potato, black beans and mizu manju to create a simple yet rich-flavored amazake.

Having been fond of cooking since childhood, he learned the fundamentals of confectionery making at a confectionery school in Osaka. He has worked as a chef at patisseries and hotels in Kyoto. In 2019, with the opening of Saryo FUKUCHA, he was appointed chef patissier, and continues to challenge himself to create sweets that cherish themes and worldviews while making the most of the appeal of Uji tea.
