Atmos Dining at Conrad Osaka (Nakanoshima, Kita-ku, Osaka) will be hosting the "Marga Gelato x Conrad Osaka" summer sweets buffet in collaboration with world champion gelato expert Daizo Shibano from July 10 to October 1, 2023. Marga Gelato is the gelato shop run by Shibano. 
 
 
The buffet offers six unique flavors of gelato, including Shibano's internationally acclaimed masterpiece, "Grand Pistachio," as well as "Peach Paprika" and "Watermelon and Four Fruits," made with seasonal peaches; "100% Cacao Sorbet," featuring a rich cacao aroma; "Homemade Mozzarella Milk," made with mozzarella made with raw milk from cows raised by Shibano in Noto; and "Amazake Mascarpone," an original flavor at Conrad Osaka.
 
 
Shibano's goal is to create a gelato experience that stimulates all five senses. "The skill of a gelato maestro is demonstrated by the ingredients, combining them in a unique combination based on classic flavors. Combining science and imagination, I strive to express a sweet taste and passion that evokes a landscape the moment you taste it. I work on developing new flavors every day, while also considering my own unique methods," says Shibano. At Conrad Osaka, you can enjoy Shibano's meticulously crafted, limited-edition gelato, which is usually only available in his Ishikawa Prefecture store. Also, the summer-inspired buffet table will feature approximately 15 Italian sweets and 12 savory dishes, including tiramisu, a nod to gelato's Italian origins; bonet, a cocoa pudding specialty of Turin; Italian crostata, a tart made with traditional Italian jam; and a ricotta cheesecake, said to have originated in Italy, reimagined in the colors of the Italian flag.

In addition, our acclaimed savory items are Italian cuisine created by a chef with a background in Italian cuisine. We offer a total of 12 dishes, including 8 hot dishes and 4 cold dishes, such as "Coppa alla Romana," a traditional Roman meat dish made with pig's head terrine, "Scottato di Tonno," a modern Italian dish made with fragrant seared tuna, "Vegan Caprese" made with summer peaches, and a variety of colorful and photogenic pizzas.

Kojima started his career at a high-end hotel in Kobe in 2008, where he learned the basics of fresh sweets, baked goods, ice cream, wedding cakes, marzipan, candy art, and more. In 2012, he gained experience in chocolate at a pastry shop with an attached cafe. In the same year, he won an award for excellence in the "Chocolate Crafts and Confectionery Category" at the Western Japan Western Confectionery Competition, and in 2017 he led the hotel's opening pastry team and contributed to product development. In 2019, he took over as pastry shop manager, attracting media attention for his delicate sweet creations. From 2022, he will be appointed pastry sous chef at Conrad Osaka, where he is focusing on creating new sweets.
