The 15th Aoyama Bread Festival is being held! Over 80 shops will be gathering for the traditional bread tasting and fruit sandwiches.

Event Date:2019.05.11-05.12

The 15th Aoyama Bread Festival, "Artisan Bakeries - Spring - Bakeries as Artists of Expression," will be held over two days, May 11th and 12th, in the plaza in front of the United Nations University in Aoyama, Tokyo.

The wildly popular Aoyama Bread Festival, centered around Shibuya and Aoyama, brings together a diverse array of bakeries. This year, over 80 diverse bakeries and bread-related products will gather over the two days. Following on from the previous event, the festival will further explore the concept of "bakers as artists (artisan bakeries)," which expresses the lifestyles, beliefs, and accumulated feelings of bakers and people in each and every loaf of bread.

Continuing from last time, bakers from all over the country will be choosing their own "Signature Bread," which embodies their own "feelings" and "expression." This will be available at each bakery's booth. By checking the story behind each signature bread, which will be posted on the official Instagram (@aoyama_pan_matsuri) in advance, you can enjoy the bread while learning about the hidden tales behind it. In a special corner, you can choose your favorite nine signature breads from those chosen by bakeries from all over the country and compare them. Tasting tickets (1,500 yen) are available for purchase in advance or on the day, and will end once sold out.

Since last year, the main theme of this event has been "Bakers as Artists." For the 15th time, a "bakery that eats with passion" will be opening. Bread made by bakers selected by the Aoyama Bread Festival organizers will be sold in limited quantities, accompanied by a letter from the artisans. On the 11th, Tottori's Talmary, Tochigi's SHŌPAIN ARTISAN BAKEHOUSE, and Gunma's Fermentation Factory will express their passion, and on the 12th, Tokyo's Shigekuniya, Ishikawa's Niort, and Yamanashi's Megane will all express their passion.

In addition, original sandwiches made with ingredients from farmers who are exhibiting at the Aoyama Farmers Market, which is being held at the same time, will be on sale for a limited time. A limited-edition "Lilikoi Butter Fruit Sandwich" (30 servings) and "Aoyama Sandwich by TENERA" will be available.

"Bread Lover's Cafe au Lait"
A bar will be set up inside the lounge, offering a new style of rich, full-bodied yet light milk tea, coffee roasted in Stockholm, Sweden, chai made by dairy farmers, and craft beer made by a bakery. Additionally, the 13th Aoyama Bread Festival will be offering a limited-edition drink, "Bread Lover's Cafe au Lait," created in collaboration between "Bread Lover's Milk" and Stockholm Roast Tokyo. There will also be a bar where you can enjoy "Bread Lover's Cafe au Lait," which allows you to fully experience the sweetness, flavor, and aroma of bread.

In addition, the mobile bread oven made by Mimori Wood-fired Oven Factory will be making an appearance again this year. You can reheat your favorite bread purchased at the venue in the stone oven, or bring your own dough and bake it.

Why not come to the bread festival venue to see bread with a different look than the bread you usually see, and meet the artisans?
