Japanese confectionery shop HIGASHIYA is selling limited-edition seasonal products again this season. They offer elegant Japanese sweets that are perfect for this time of year when new green leaves are sprouting.

As we approach the middle of April and enter May, it's time for Boys' Day, a festival to pray for the healthy growth and happiness of boys. Higashiya is selling Japanese sweets that are perfect for celebrating important special occasions or as spring gifts, such as "Kanoka," a special festival sweet made with two types of yokan wrapped in "holly leaves," which are used to ward off evil and pray for the prosperity of descendants, and "Shinchakan," a refreshingly flavored sweet made with new tea that is only available at this time of year.

Kanoka is a special festival confectionery made of two types of yokan wrapped in a oak leaf.

Kashiwanoka: 1 box contains 8 pieces (3,000 yen)
On sale from April 27th to May 5th. Pre-orders begin on April 12th.

Kanoka allows you to enjoy the aroma of oak leaves, the chewy texture of mijinkan, and the smooth mouthfeel of yokan, which has been refined for its sweetness. While the classic kashiwamochi is delicious, this year why not celebrate Boys' Day with a modern Japanese confectionery that showcases Higashiya's creativity? A box of eight pieces contains four each of the Ao no Ha and Cha no Ha varieties, priced at 3,000 yen. Available from April 27th to May 5th. Reservations open from April 12th.

Ao no Ha: A fragrant treat made by wrapping yokan, which brings out the flavor of red beans, in mijinkan, which is made with plenty of mugwort.
Tea leaves: A rich-tasting yokan made with adzuki beans and white miso, wrapped in a refreshing Ajijinkan made with sweet orange peel.

"Shinchakan" (2,400 yen per stick), a refreshing jelly made with new tea.Available from April 26th to early June.

It's tea picking season, the "88th night." The new buds, which have accumulated natural energy from autumn through winter, are considered auspicious and are said to be a tea of longevity full of vitality. "Shinchakan" is a seasonal, limited-edition, Kingyokukan (golden jelly) made with Kagoshima Prefecture's "Yutaka Midori" tea leaves, known for their rich, full-bodied flavor. The tea leaves are processed using a special method called "nama-shigoe," resulting in a refreshing, subtly sweet taste that complements the flavor of new tea. In addition to its delicious flavor, it also looks as beautiful as a work of art. The excitement builds even before you even sip it, as you wonder what kind of dish to use to serve it. Each stick costs 2,400 yen. The sale period is from April 26th to early June.

All of the products introduced here are available at HIGASHIYA GINZA, HIGASHIYA man, and the HIGASHIYA online shop (https://higashiya-shop.com).
