On April 5th, Starbucks will release the new JIMOTO made series CHUYO "Mug Three Karakusa," a mug developed using the techniques of Ehime's Tobe-yaki Baizangama pottery, exclusively in the Chuyo area of Ehime Prefecture.

The JIMOTO made series is a Starbucks series that develops items incorporating local industries and materials from various parts of Japan. With the hope of fostering a desire to cherish the industries and people who live in each region, this series will only be sold in local stores.
The newly released JIMOTO made series CHUYO "Mug Three Arabesques" is an original mug developed using the oldest surviving Baizan kiln in Tobe, Ehime Prefecture, and the traditional Tobe ware manufacturing methods used there. It features thick, plump white porcelain with a shape that tapers toward the top, inspired by the whetstone mountain where the raw materials for Tobe ware are mined, and is made entirely by hand.
When you bring the cup to your mouth, you can see the traditional "arabesque" pattern of the Baizan kiln of Tobe ware. The hand-drawn design uses the gosu color characteristic of Tobe ware.
The mug will only be available at eight Starbucks stores in Matsuyama City, Toon City, and Matsumae Town in the Chuyo area of Ehime Prefecture.
