Event Date:2017.12.01-12.25
Nov 11, 2017

Hoshino Resorts Karuizawa Hotel Bleston Court will be holding the "Karuizawa Sweets Collection 2017 Christmas" from December 1st to the 25th.

The Karuizawa Sweets Collection is an event that offers a set course dessert called "Menu Dessert," as well as afternoon tea and gateaux made with seasonal ingredients. This time, the hotel's original sweets will express a "Christmas moment spent in a snowy forest" in a variety of ways.

The "Menu Dessert Christmas" (3,500 yen) is a four-course dessert set. The course starts with warm sweets that will help you forget the cold outdoors. The non-alcoholic hot wine is made with aromatic, warming spices such as cinnamon, cloves, and star anise, and is topped with sweet pear, which is enjoyed alongside pain perdu (French toast) made with plenty of butter and apple. The second dish is a citron tart made with yuzu and Japanese black tea, the third dish is a strawberry dessert shaped like a Christmas candle, and the final dish is a mignardise (small pastry) that is both delicate in taste and design. Ten varieties made with fruits and spices such as wild grapes, apples, walnuts, and Japanese pepper are served in vessels decorated with tree stumps and wreaths to evoke the image of a winter forest.

The "Christmas Gateau" (600 yen each) is a Christmas cake shaped like a log, made into three different types of gateau, and is a Christmas-only cake that uses pears, apples, chestnuts, yuzu, and more, and is packed with the deliciousness of seasonal ingredients in a small world. You can also have fun choosing a different type each and sharing it with your close friends.

The limited-edition "Christmas Afternoon Tea" (3,500 yen) is served on a three-tiered tray and includes sandwiches of fluffy madeleines stuffed with cheese or ham, apple tart, financiers and other small pastries. The tart is made using "Nakano no Kirameki" apples, a rare variety with limited production that is characterized by their red flesh. You can enjoy an elegant tea time with a choice of 10 drinks, including black tea and herbal tea. Please note that this is the only tea available from December 1st to 20th.

Other original sweets on sale at the hotel include "Sapin de Noel" (1,500 yen), "Kuglof" (1,600 yen each), "Confiture de Noel" (1,200 yen), "Alsace Cookie Box" (6 cookies/1,000 yen), and "Stollen" (2,200 yen), which are adaptations of traditional European sweets.

From November 1st to December 19th, reservations can be made by phone (0267-46-6200) for three types of Christmas cakes that evoke the nature of Karuizawa. There are three types of cakes: "Mont Blanc de Noel" (4,200 yen), a limited edition cake inspired by Mount Asama at Christmas; "Biche de Noel" (4,000 yen), a dome with a motif of sunlight filtering through the trees in Karuizawa, filled with plenty of fruits such as pears, apples, strawberries, and hazelnuts; and "Fraisier de Noel" (12cm/2,800 yen, 15cm/3,800 yen, 18cm/4,800 yen), a strawberry cake with a beautiful contrast between pure white cream and bright red strawberries. Christmas cakes will be available for collection from December 22nd to 25th at Karuizawa Hotel Bleston Court (prices do not include tax and service charge).
