At the 2017 Christmas cake tasting event at Palace Hotel Tokyo (headquarters: 1-1-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), seven types of Christmas cakes and four unique stollen and pastries were announced. You might be wondering, "Christmas cakes already?" with autumn just beginning, but Palace Hotel Tokyo's Christmas cakes are so popular they sell out every year. Be sure to check out the lineup before reservations open on October 1st.
The Christmas cakes are made by Sweets & Deli, a pastry shop on the first basement floor of the Palace Hotel that offers "hotel-made sweets" with elegant flavors and sophisticated designs. Cakes that are popular every year include the Mont Blanc (6,000 yen/limited to 150 pieces), which combines smooth fresh cream with a generous amount of strained chestnuts in a marron chantilly cake, and the Strawberry Shortcake (No. 12/4,350 yen, No. 15/5,400 yen), which is inspired by flowers covered in powdered snow.
