More than 100 types of soba choko (buckwheat noodle cups) will be gathered in Aoyama! "Soba Choko Encyclopedia" event will be held to discover the possibilities of small tableware

Jun 25, 2016

The "Soba Choko Encyclopedia," featuring a wide variety of over 100 soba choko, will be held at coto mono michi at TOKYO in Aoyama, Tokyo, from July 7th to 19th.

Originally called "choko," soba choko were widely produced as versatile cups that could be used for various purposes, such as for serving soup, small bowls, or for drinking sake or tea, and are still widely used throughout Japan. This time, with the cooperation of Baba Shoten, which offers tableware suited to modern life, the exhibition will feature over 100 types of soba choko made using various Hasami ware and Arita ware techniques. This will be an opportunity to discover new possibilities for the choko, such as using them as small appetizer bowls, candle holders, or planters for placing greenery inside.
