Tamagawa Takashimaya Shopping Center will celebrate its 45th anniversary on November 11th with a three-pronged renovation of its facilities, services, and stores.
The exterior of the main building will be given a new wood-grain finish on September 1st. World-renowned architect Kengo Kuma oversaw the design, with shades of wood-patterned panels and wall greenery designed to harmonize with the naturally rich neighborhood. The interior of the south building will also be renovated, unifying the flooring, lighting, and interior concepts that had previously varied between the existing and new south buildings. This will create a space where customers can intuitively navigate their way around on every floor.
A new waiting lounge for taxis and shuttle buses will be established, and a shuttle service will be provided. Equipped with monitors and air conditioning, the space will be staffed 24/7 to assist with taxi boarding and disembarking, shopping assistance, arrival call services, and the rental of wheelchairs and shopping support cars. A total of 20 new stores will be opening or renovated between August and October, including "ICHIE strawberry-fields," which uses high-quality materials and offers products that emphasize silhouette and comfort; the first concept store that embodies the world view and philosophy of "BEIGE,"; "swimmie," a women's handkerchief specialty store that is particular about textiles and shapes; four new store formats, including "Yuyo Grill Hokkaido" (already open), a restaurant that uses beef and cheese from Hokkaido; "globe walker" and "Saturday in the Park," select shops operated by Goldwin; "Vera Bradley," a lifestyle brand centered on bags; and "Kanazawa Yamato Soy Sauce and Miso," a fermented seasoning store from Kanazawa. Each store will be located in a building or on a floor that suits its concept, with the aim of making it easier to shop around.
