Kamakura Beniya Co., Ltd. (based in Kamakura City, Kanagawa Prefecture), which manufactures and sells Japanese and Western confectionery, including the baked walnut confectionery "Kurumi-ko," will open the "Kamakura Beniya Isetan Shinjuku Store" in the Japanese confectionery area on the first basement floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku on February 25, 2022. In addition to standard products, Kamakura Beniya Isetan Shinjuku will sell the cheesecake "Fromage Ukishima YUKI," a store-exclusive item.

● Background and aim of the store opening
Ever since Kamakura Beniya was still making sweets in a small factory, "Kurumi-ko" has been sold at Mitsukoshi's select shop "Kayuan," which carries famous sweets from all over Japan, and Kamakura Beniya products have always been featured at Isetan Mitsukoshi. Time has passed, and now the time has finally come for us to open a store at Isetan Shinjuku.

We will strive to be a store that continues to meet the expectations of customers of Isetan Shinjuku, who are always at the forefront of the times and expect the "seasonal and latest" products, thanks to their continued support.

Kamakura Beniya was founded in October 1954 by a first-generation Japanese confectioner and a second-generation Western confectioner at the former site of Hojo Yasutoki Komachi's residence at No. 12-4 Yukinoshita 1-chome, Kamakura City (the current location of the main store) with the philosophy of "always pursuing deliciousness."

In 2020, the number of tourists in Kamakura City, where our flagship store is located, dropped significantly by 61% compared to the previous year (see "Number of Tourists and Beachgoers" published by Kamakura City), but we have also implemented various projects and product developments, as well as proactively utilizing social media, such as Twitter posts and live Instagram broadcasts by the president himself, to prioritize communication with customers even during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has delighted our many fans.
