The story of Chanel's revival, "The Return," is now available

Dec 12, 2013

The full-length short film "The Return," directed by CHANEL's artistic director, Karl Lagerfeld, has been released. The story begins with Gabrielle Chanel receiving a phone call from Carmel Snow, editor of Harper's Bazaar magazine. After a 15-year hiatus, Chanel begins preparing for her show, marking her return to the fashion world. Her first show since her return, held on Rue Cambon on February 5, 1954, was met with criticism in France but praise in the United States. Her 1958 collection featured jackets and suits made from wool and tweed, materials that were out of fashion at the time. These have since become iconic Chanel pieces. It was also around this time that the quilted "2.55" bag and two-tone shoes were born. Chanel established a firm position in the fashion world and became beloved by Hollywood actresses.

Towards the end of the film, Chanel is asked some pretty probing questions by a reporter played by Rupert Everett, and she opens up about herself.
