The campaign was photographed at Centrale Montemartini in Rome. Built in the early 20th century as the city’s first public power plant, the site was transformed in 1997 into a branch of the Capitoline Museums. Today, ancient sculptures coexist with industrial relics including monumental turbines and boilers—a singular juxtaposition that becomes the creative principle behind the campaign.

A Story Born from the “Interference” of Antiquity and Machinery

The campaign unfolds in a world where different eras and systems of meaning intersect: the age of the gods and the age of machines, mythology and progress, memory and creation. At Centrale Montemartini, ancient figures including the goddess Fortuna, the Muse Polyhymnia, and Queen Cleopatra appear amid enormous diesel engines, generators, flywheels, and overhead cranes. Marble meets cast iron, the idealized beauty of the human form confronts the power of machinery, and each alters the way the other is perceived.

Photographer and director Glen Luchford captures this encounter through cinematic imagery. Sharp light cuts through the space, illuminating bodies and garments, marble figures and monumental iron structures. What emerges is a form of “interference” created by bringing disparate elements into relation. Through collision and resonance, they generate meanings that could not exist within any one element alone.

The campaign imagery and film feature pieces that made a strong impression on the runway, including the Rockstud Spike bag and new Rockstud pumps, alongside statement jewelry inspired by the archives and the new unisex Stud Up sneakers. The soundtrack features the Waltz from Aram Khachaturian’s Masquerade.

Antiquity and the present, sculpture and body, marble and machinery, memory and creation. Through the “Interferenze”—the interference—that arises between them, Alessandro Michele explores the new beauty and meaning that can emerge when different worlds encounter one another.
