KEITA MARUYAMA unveiled its 2017-18 Fall/Winter collection on March 24th. The theme was "SWINGING."
The venue for the installation was PUB CARDINAL in Ginza, Tokyo. Opened in 1966 as Japan's first British pub, stepping inside transports one to the world of Swinging London in the late 1960s. Models were dancing to the music, playing cards, and chatting over drinks.
The women were wearing floral lace and velvet dresses, as well as Saint Laurent-inspired mini dresses. They topped them off with fur or vintage-inspired jacquard coats, and wore fishnet stockings and high heels. Their style exuded a cute, romantic aura, reminiscent of a young girl dreaming of becoming a musical star.
A male model dressed in rockabilly fashion was also present at the venue. Next to them, models playing her continue to dance, wearing elegant dresses and skirts styled with mannish jackets and oversized, loose-gauge knitwear, likely borrowed from boyfriends. British-inspired fox-hunting illustrations, classic checks, and cheongsam-inspired details inspired by Chinatown clubs are complemented by Asian influences, such as motifs that pay homage to Kansai Yamamoto's 1971 London show. This exquisite mix of styles adds depth to the style and creates the enchanting world of Keita Maruyama. Designer Keita Maruyama listed "happy ending" as the final keyword for this season's collection. Revived 50 years after its smash hit, this collection will inspire happy dreams in both wearers and viewers, appealing to the fashion sense of women.
