An event featuring costume jewelry brand Miriam Haskell is being held at the West Park on the 3rd floor of the Isetan Shinjuku store. It runs until October 22nd.
The event explores the brand's history through archived pieces from the 1950s and 1960s, and presents the brand's latest 2013 collection alongside the iconic styles and fashion culture of each decade. The venue features mannequins inspired by 1950s and 1960s fashion icons Audrey Hepburn and Twiggy, as well as bags and accessories incorporating the fashion trends of the time.
Miriam Haskell is known for its global collector base. The shop carries dozens of styles, making it rare to see the brand's products gathered on such a large scale. The costume jewelry, handcrafted by artisans using glass and baroque pearls, is characterized by soft curves and delicately rendered natural motifs such as flowers, leaves, nuts, and plants. It is used not only for formal wear but also as an everyday fashion accessory. The brand was founded in 1924 by Miriam Haskell, a highly popular designer in the fashion and social circles. It had many fans among the top stars of the time, including Hollywood actress Greta Garbo, and top models on the cover of fashion magazine Vogue competed to wear her jewelry, establishing the category of costume jewelry.
