The commemorative exhibition "400ans MELLERIO dits MELLER: The Style of Futuristic Elegance" for Mellerio dits Meller, the haute couture jeweler celebrating its 400th anniversary, has been held at The Stage on the first floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku since August 21st. It will run until the 26th.
The exhibition focuses on the history of Mellerio dits Meller, which was one of the first to collaborate with numerous famous fashion brands in the 1950s. Valuable museum pieces on display include jewelry that adorned advertisements in the fashion magazine Vogue at the time, as well as butterfly glasses made as haute couture for Nariman Sadegh, the second wife of King Farouk of Egypt and the last queen.
In addition, the "Annel H" ring, a faithful reproduction of the design of the wedding ring that King Louis IX of France gave to Queen Marguerite de Provence, will be available for pre-sale at the exhibition, as well as the 400th anniversary collection, created as a homage to Queen Marie de' Medici, wife of King Henri IV of France, which will be exhibited and sold.
Mellerio dei Meller was founded in 1613 as a jeweler purveyor to the French royal family. It is one of the five major jewellery houses (Grands Cinq) in Paris and is known as the oldest brand. Its clients include royal and imperial families not only from France but also from Europe, Russia, Latin America and Asia, including Marie Antoinette.
