Yokohama Urban Mirai Co., Ltd. will open Southwood, a commercial facility currently under construction in front of Center-Minami Station on the Yokohama Municipal Subway, on the 31st. The facility is located at 6-1 Chigasaki Chuo, Tsuzuki-ku, Yokohama. Hours are 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
The facility's concept is "Green Neighborhood" (forming a local community that enjoys a high-quality, environmentally conscious lifestyle), and its primary target is the baby boomer generation in their 30s and 40s, many of whom live in the surrounding commercial area.
The building has five floors, four above ground and one below ground, with a total floor area of 10,874 square meters. Focusing on sustainability, it is the first in Japan to use fire-resistant wooden construction. The second to fourth floors feature a warm, wooden interior that utilizes the original wooden columns and beams. Furthermore, its location directly in front of Center-Minami Station, with street-level stores located in the station plaza and semi-outdoor space, creates a fun and enjoyable shopping experience.
Major stores include Freshness Burger & Cafe with Hula Art Hanamon, a collaboration between hamburgers and fresh flowers; Natural Lawson & Food Klook | Cafe Brown, a convenience store with a select food shop and eat-in space; Ogawa Coffee, a long-established Kyoto coffee shop; Milkissimo Cafe, a gelato shop with its main store in Hakodate, Hokkaido; Babybre, a smoothie shop that specializes in natural ingredients; and Kohoku Marche, a direct sales farm shop that values local production and consumption and food education. In addition, there will also be nationally-operated soccer goods store Soccer Shop KAMO and adult sneaker shop Top to Top.
