Nike's free app "Run Track" combines running and music

Apr 25, 2013

Nike has released a free mobile app called "RUN TRACK," which allows users to create original music tracks using the Nike+ Running app. Eight Japanese artists, including Eli Walks, Jemapur, and Hifana, provide base tracks for the app. These tracks are remixed based on various elements of run data registered in Nike+ (pace, distance, speed, time of day, weather, temperature, etc.) to generate original tracks. Users can also share the resulting tracks on Facebook and Twitter. Nike+ Running is a service that allows users to monitor running data such as distance, calories burned, and pace in real time using a dedicated "SportWatch GPS" or iPhone. Data can also be accumulated, managed, and shared on social media at nikeplus.com.

This project is part of Nike's new campaign "Change it Squish" for its barefoot-feeling shoes, Nike Free, and the company says it will continue to develop a variety of interactive content and participatory events.
