The UNIQLO Okachimachi Store and GU Okachimachi Store will open at 6am on April 25th in the Okachimachi Yoshiike Flagship Building in Okachimachi, Tokyo, which is being renovated and reopened next to the north exit of Okachimachi Station.
The UNIQLO Okachimachi Store will stock between 500 and 1000 items. The first floor will feature UNIQLO's world's largest circular table, a pop-up product floor where the store will display products for sale. Pop-up displays will indicate which floor the product is on and guide customers to the upper floors. The second floor is for women's wear, and the third floor is for men's wear. The fourth floor will be used to display and sell new series each season, and currently features UT as the main focus. The store is targeting overseas customers, with lanterns inspired by Ameyoko Street incorporated into the interior and souvenir T-shirts featuring place names from around the world available. The hanger display method, which allows the T-shirt patterns to be easily seen, was inspired by the Ameyoko display method. Uniqlo Okachimachi store manager Tomomi Ogawa said, "Yoshiike-san has unwavering support from the local community, so we want to operate with a strong community focus. We want to create a store that is both open and event-oriented, with opening sales and limited-time sales." To celebrate the opening, the first 1,000 customers will receive Supima cotton T-shirts, tank tops, shorts, and more for ¥290. The store will also collaborate with artist SUPER BELL''Z to create an original commemorative song, which will be played as background music and in-store music video from April 25th to May 6th. Other events planned include a "Warabaito" project, where young comedians from Yoshimoto Creative Agency, such as Heisei Nobushikobushi, will appear on the floor as staff from May 2nd to 6th. Also, a "Children's Tirol Chocolate Grab Campaign" will be held from May 2nd to 5th, with a limited number of 1,000 chocolates available per day for customers with children. These and other events will create a festive atmosphere. The GU Okachimachi store will stock approximately 600 items. Taking advantage of the economies of scale, the fifth floor is the women's floor, showcasing themed outfits such as graphic t-shirts and skirts, grunge fairies, and pajama looks, expressing fashion. The sixth floor is for men's, kids', and a special men's and women's section. Due to the large number of families, the kids' section is twice the usual size. The Okachimachi store is also the only store with a large special section dedicated to price reductions, and to celebrate the store's opening, socks will be on sale for 100 yen. From the 24th to the 27th, a limited-time offer will be held at the event booth: "Ameyoko Welcomes GU!". Customers who spend over 2,000 yen at GU will receive a raffle ticket for a draw at the Ameyoko location, while customers who spend over 2,000 yen at Ameyoko will receive a raffle ticket for a draw at GU. Additionally, a photo event called "We Love Camera!" will be held on the 25th only, using a system developed by Toppan Printing that releases the shutter the moment skin touches. "We wanted to express fashion as a store that communicates information to the world," said Yukinori Inoue, store manager of the GU Okachimachi store. At a briefing and preview held on the 24th, Yoshiike Co., Ltd. Representative Director Shinpei Takahashi commented, "We want to develop together with the local community and our tenants, including Ameyoko, Matsuzakaya, and the new Parco." Considering the area's high number of international tourists, 100 of the 300 store staff will be foreign. International customers can receive a 5% discount by registering as a mobile member or presenting their passport. Training is currently underway, with the goal of attracting approximately 15,000 customers per day. The Okachimachi Yoshiike Main Store Building, which will have its grand opening on the 26th, will feature seven restaurants. The restaurant floor on the 8th floor will have six restaurants, including the pasta and cake restaurant "Pasta Paradiso" and the Western bistro "Cochon d'or Kamiya." Yoshiike Shokudo on the 9th floor is a new, multi-purpose establishment that brings together the directly managed restaurants of "Gyoza Yoshiike," "Hoshintei," "Sushidokoro Shun," and "Ikedaya." In addition to being able to enjoy Japanese, sushi, and Western cuisine, the facility also features a banquet hall with flexible layouts that can seat up to 100 people, private rooms with karaoke, and a bar counter. Additionally, from the 1st to the 2nd basement floors, "Gyoza Yoshiike," which sells fresh fish, food, alcohol, and daily necessities, will be reopening after a remodel.
