Gucci is celebrating its 50th anniversary in Japan with special events throughout the year. The second Japan-exclusive capsule collection to celebrate this special year will be released in October. Designed by Creative Director Frida Giannini, the collection includes a full line of handbags, women's clothing, scarves, women's shoes, and small leather goods.
The collection is inspired by Gucci's timeless "Flora" print, which debuted in 1996, two years after the first Gucci store in Japan opened. This elegant and sophisticated collection originated from a scarf designed for Princess Grace of Monaco.
The revamped Flora print features a subtle blue background. This new Flora color is also used on clothing and linings.
The Fall/Winter collection also features an expanded color palette and new wallet designs. The bag features a flap closure and a floral-print lining.
The product will be on display at "Gucci the House of Artisans," held at the Hankyu Umeda Main Store from October 1st to 7th, and will also be available in various stores from time to time. A eucalyptus leaf color version will also be available exclusively on the online store.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Gucci is further committed to social contributions. In addition to supporting UNESCO education, the brand is also committed to supporting Japanese craftsmanship, a contribution unique to Gucci, which respects Japanese culture, art, and traditional artisanal techniques. This collection also features the "Bamboo Shopper," which elevates Gucci's signature bamboo handle. Its history dates back to the days of material shortages after World War II, when bamboo imported from Japan was used for the handle. This latest version of this iconic bag, known worldwide since its launch in 1947, is definitely worth seeing in store.
