May 14, 2014

To celebrate the release of Michael Jackson's first new album in three years, "XSCAPE," released on May 21, a commemorative event is being held at the Sony Building in Ginza, Tokyo, from May 14th to June 1st. The "Communication Zone OPUS" on the 8th floor will be screening a behind-the-scenes documentary based on testimonies from the album's executive producers, taken from the deluxe edition of the new album. It will be projected on a 200-inch screen in 4K (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) video and uncompressed high-resolution audio. The "Sony Showroom" on the 4th floor will be offering high-resolution audio for all tracks from the albums "Thriller," "BAD," and "Escape." The entrance hall on the 1st floor will feature a photo exhibit showcasing works currently being developed with high-resolution audio, including "Escape." On May 24th, 25th, 31st, and June 1st, a life-size figure of Michael Jackson from Madame Tussauds Tokyo will be on display, and visitors can take commemorative photos with it.
Pub Cardinal on the first floor will offer special menu items such as two-flavor popcorn served in boot-shaped glasses (950 yen), as well as cocktails inspired by "Thriller" and "Bad" (1,000 yen each). MoMA DESIGN STORE GINZA on the sixth floor will sell a set of six cups and saucers (130,000 yen) featuring Michael Jackson, created by American artist Jeff Koons.
"Escape," to be released by Sony Music on May 21st, will feature eight new tracks, contemporary renditions of Michael Jackson's recordings by top producers. The deluxe edition includes the original version as well as "Love Never Felt So Good" featuring Justin Timberlake.
