It was reported that Swiss painter Hans Rudolf Giger, known for his creature designs in the film "Alien," passed away on May 12th at the age of 74 due to injuries sustained in a fall. Celebrities such as fashion director Nicola Formichetti and Shiseido hair and makeup artist Tadashi Harada have posted tributes.
Nicola Formichetti posted a simple message on Twitter: "RIP H.R. GIGER," quietly mourning the deceased. British metal band Carcass also commented on Facebook. "Sorry to hear of H.R. Gigers' passing. Thank you for everything," the group wrote, posting a photo of Giger and their band members. Swiss metal band TRIPTYKON also shared their memories of Giger on Facebook. Giger previously created the artwork for both Carcass and Trypticon. Tadashi Harada, who has released creative works based on "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure," is also one person who was influenced by Giger. "I was fascinated by his aesthetic and fetishistic, hybrid art and creature designs of organic and inorganic materials. I even feel a kind of catharsis from his passionate expressions, which can be seen as a mixture of silence and chaos, destruction and rebirth. His influence is strongly reflected in some of my early works. These works are truly inspired by Giger's worldview and pay homage to it. I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences." Giger won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 1980 for his design of "Alien." His other film designs include "Species," "Killer Condoms," and "Tales of the Empire." His other major collection of works is "Necronomicon."
