Gucci Aoyama reopens after renovation. Hidetoshi Nakata, Yusuke Iseya and others congratulate the store.

May 30, 2014

On May 30th, Gucci reopened its flagship store in Aoyama, Tokyo (3-6-7 Kita-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo). All three floors, with a total sales area of 969.60 square meters, were fully renovated.

The store design embodies the concept of creative director Frida Giannini and expresses Gucci's contemporary style. It features rosewood, marble, Art Deco-style ribbed glass, polished gold, and smoked elements, as well as a facade that lets in natural light, movable shelves, and see-through materials.

A large LED screen is installed at the entrance on the first floor, projecting the latest collections and iconic items. The space is divided by ribbed glass and corrugated sheets, and features carpeting with an interlocking G design and white marble floors. The store carries handbags, leather goods, silk, watches, sunglasses, and other accessories, as well as jewelry collections. The second floor features a monochromatic space, featuring diamante-patterned carpeting and clear glass shelves. The store offers a full men's lineup, from apparel to shoes, luggage, belts, and silk, and offers a made-to-order program for suits and shoes. This will be the first time the store has offered "Lapo's Wardrobe," a made-to-measure capsule collection created in collaboration with Italian fashion icon Lapo Elkann. The third floor, with its clear glass façade overlooking the zelkova trees lining Omotesando, incorporates the landscape into its interior design. The store will also offer women's apparel, shoes, and belts. A VIP room will also be available for customers to relax and choose their wardrobe. The store will also exhibit the "Premiere Collection," created for celebrities walking the red carpet, from March 30 to June 9. This collection is usually only available at the Gucci Museo in Florence, and this will be the first time it will be exhibited outdoors. To commemorate the reopening, an Aoyama-exclusive colorway of the "Lady Rock" handbag (priced at 480,000 yen) is also available.

The opening reception held on the 29th was attended by Elkann, as well as other celebrities such as Hidetoshi Nakata, Yusuke Iseya, Angelica Michibata, and Emi Takei, as well as many people from the fashion industry.
