Two Proenza Schouler designers visit Japan and collaborate with teamLab for a pop-up at Shinjuku Isetan

New York-based luxury brand Proenza Schouler will be launching its first-ever customized bag, the "PS Pin Bag," in Japan on October 14th, ahead of the rest of the world. To celebrate, a pop-up store will be open until the 20th. On the morning of the first day, designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez also visited the store. When asked how they came up with the idea for the "PS Pin Bag," designer Lazaro Hernandez replied, "Women often personalize their bags by adding charms or scarves. It was born from the idea that it would be interesting to incorporate that spirit of customization into a design." The Stage on the first floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building, the venue for Japan's first exhibition-style pop-up store, also featured an installation in collaboration with teamLab. When a bag is placed on a display stand with a monitor as the top, the monitor's graphics and color change to match the bag's color. "TeamLab's work is cool. We brainstormed ideas together to express the playful and youthful world of accessories," said Lázaro Hernández.
