Shu Uemura will hold the "Shu Uemura Beauty Art Studio" event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its atelier opening from July 31st to August 2nd in Montauk, Shibuya, Tokyo.
This event commemorates the 50th anniversary of founder Shu Uemura opening the "Shu Uemura Makeup Laboratory" makeup atelier in his home. The venue will offer eye makeup services themed around each decade, from the 1960s, when the atelier first opened, to the present. Visitors can choose their favorite makeup design and have it applied by a Shu Uemura artist.
There will also be a special exhibition looking back at the brand's history, including iconic items released throughout each decade. There will also be a photo corner where visitors can take photos with "Shu Bear," the iconic mascot of the Shu Uemura boutique. By sharing photos taken in the corner on social media, visitors will be entered into a raffle to win luxurious prizes.
In addition, the Atelier's 50th anniversary website is currently streaming an original digital comic drawn by animator and manga artist Kakinouchi Narumi, based on the brand spirit of "conveying the joy of makeup to as many people as possible." The story consists of four chapters, depicting how the protagonist, who has suffered a broken heart, comes across Uemura Shu's book, gradually becomes drawn to the beauty of Uemura's makeup, and uses the power of makeup to open doors to his life.
