Starting May 14, 2021, Conrad Tokyo will be serving "Dolce Fiori Afternoon Tea" at its bar and lounge "Twenty Eight." The theme is yellow, one of the trend colors for 2021. The tea features sweets inspired by the energetic flowers that bloom in early summer.
Dolce Fiori Afternoon Tea
Yellow, selected as the Color of the Year by Pantone every year, is a bright and radiant yellow. This afternoon tea featured refreshing vitamin-rich fruits such as pineapple, mango, and lemon. As interest in foods made with plant-derived ingredients grows year by year, more and more people are choosing to incorporate plant-based meals from time to time even if they are not on a strict diet, and as such, the lineup also includes vegan items.
There will be five sweets (three of which are vegan) such as "Pitaya & Jasmine Jelly" with the vibrant deep red jelly of pitaya (dragon fruit), "Almond Milk Panna Cotta" with the gentle sweetness of almond milk and the pleasant tartness of lime jelly, and "Mango Mousse" to enjoy with chocolate tart; three savory dishes (one of which is vegan) such as "Falafel Mini Burger" with chickpea croquette sandwiched in a yellow bun, and "Yellow Gazpacho and Soy Milk Cream" topped with crab and corn; and plain and pineapple scones with a strong fruit flavor, served with clotted cream and mango jam.
Pastry chef Masateru Okazaki had the following to say: "This time, the theme was bright yellow and flowers, which are said to energize both the mind and body, but I also kept in mind the gentleness that plants possess when creating the sweets. I made sure to make good use of the freshness and tartness of summer fruits, while also making sure that customers could enjoy the rich taste of cream and mousse. The vegan sweets have a flavor that is sure to satisfy. We have seen an increase in demand for vegan sweets from our customers, so we hope that this afternoon tea will be enjoyed by a wide range of customers."
In addition, an original takeout box will be on sale, which contains four types of sweets, two savory dishes and two scones from the "Dolce Fiori Afternoon Tea," along with Ronnefeldt black tea or herbal tea. It is perfect for tea time at home, as well as for gifts.

Banana cupcakes, beetroot cream (*)
Ripe banana cupcakes decorated with pink cream made from a mixture of soy milk and beets.
Mango Mousse
Mango mousse is placed on top of a chocolate tart and garnished with edible flowers. A dessert that offers both a fresh and rich taste.
Lemon Tart
Lemon cream is poured into the lemon tart and topped with meringue. A sweet and sour dish perfect for early summer.
Falafel Mini Burger (※)
This adorable vegan burger consists of falafel (chickpea croquettes), arisa (harissa) mayonnaise, and kale sandwiched between a vibrant turmeric yellow bun.
