STUDIOUS has teamed up with BEAMS Creative Research Institute and Yahoo! Reconstruction Support Office to implement a project to turn reconstruction support for disaster-stricken areas into a business.
This project involves the production, exhibition, and sale of special items created through a collaboration between Tokyo designers and Tohoku manufacturing. Tokyo brand designers will create items using materials and factories unique to the disaster-stricken areas.
ANREALAGE has collaborated with Morioka's Sansa Sashiko weaving studio, Kokorai Japan, to create men's jackets and accessories using the brand's leftover fabric. FACETASM and SASQUATCHfabrix. are collaborating with Sanwa Orimono, a Fukushima textile company with the only sashiko weavers in Japan, and G.V.G.V. is collaborating with Moby Dick, a wetsuit manufacturer and retailer in Ishinomaki. The selection of designers and the exhibition content were jointly carried out by BEAMS Creative Research Institute and STUDIOUS.
It will be on display and for sale at the Studios Jinnan store until November 16th, and will be sold online at the Yahoo Reconstruction Select Shop.
Beams Creative Research Institute and Yahoo Reconstruction Support Office also worked hard to support the reconstruction of Tohoku with the "KENDAMA TOHOKU" project, which was carried out in May 2014. They combined kendama, which is popular among young people overseas who love skateboarding and BMX, with designs by "mina perhonen" and others, and held workshops in various locations.
