Yasutoshi Ezumi's 2013-2014 Autumn/Winter collection show was held at Shibuya Hikarie on the 19th. Designer Yasutoshi Esumi.
This season's theme was "Anima," the archetype of all feminine psychology within men, as proposed by psychologist Jung.
Floral patterns, a symbol of femininity, were used to create new graphics using Cubist techniques, transforming curves into masculine straight lines. The color palette was also chosen with an emphasis on contrast, such as black and red.
Masculinity and femininity were fused together, with tailored long jackets accented by thin belts at the waist, bright red jackets with concave shoulders, and elegantly draped tops. Low-gauge knitwear had a relaxed, poncho-like silhouette. Coats were tailored with structured ruffles, elegance reminiscent of a dress. "By continuing to hold shows, our name has become more well-known, especially overseas. Our clientele has expanded to Hong Kong, Russia, Italy, Scandinavia and other countries," said Esumi. Having studied in London and built his career at Alexander McQueen, Esumi responded to interviews from overseas media in fluent English.
