YM House General Incorporated Association will begin selling the Yoku Moku Museum-exclusive mignardise "Vallauris" at the museum's Café Vallauris on October 25, 2020, the museum's opening day.

Based on the motif of "calissons," a regional confectionery famous in the area around Vallauris, the town in southern France where Picasso devoted himself to ceramic creation, these mignardises evoke the Côte d'Azur, using herbs and citrus fruits. Including the other mignardises available in the café, there are a total of eight petit gateaux to choose from, all of which have been overseen by Konbu Tomonari, chef patissier of Un Grand, a high-end brand of the Yoku Moku Group. You can enjoy it on its own, but we also offer a set menu with a drink for 1,100 yen (tax included). If you come here after enjoying the museum, you can bask in the afterglow of the Côte d'Azur, where Picasso continued his energetic creative activities, and once again experience the charm of the south of France with all your senses.
*You can also use the cafe alone.
*We appreciate your cooperation in our museum's measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

■About the Museum

Inheriting the belief that "confectionery is something to be created" from Fujinawa Noriichi, the founder of Yoku Moku Co., Ltd., a manufacturer and seller of Western confectionery whose signature product is "Cigare," Fujinawa Toshiyasu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yoku Moku Holdings Co., Ltd. and Director of the Museum, has been appointed as the Museum's Director. This museum exhibits art, primarily from the Yoku Moku Collection, which includes ceramic works by Picasso, carefully selected by Toshiyasu and collected over 30 years by the Yoku Moku Group.
Through works that reflect Picasso's rich and free-spirited thinking, we provide a space where everyone can encounter surprises and discoveries, and create connections between all people through art.
■About the Yoku Moku Collection
The Yoku Moku Collection is one of the world's leading collections, comprehensively amassing numerous editions* of Picasso's ceramic works. What is most noteworthy about the Picasso editions is that artisans have faithfully reproduced the forms using molds and potter's wheels, even recreating the geometric forms and effects that Picasso sometimes created using unconventional methods.
From 1947, after World War II, when he first began working seriously with ceramics, until his death in 1973, Picasso produced thousands of works in close collaboration with the Ramiers at the Madura workshop in Vallauris in the south of France. The Joku Moku Collection, which houses many of Picasso's ceramic works, includes a wide range of vessels produced in editions, such as bowls, jugs, tableware, and platters, as well as outstanding large-scale works, demonstrating an unparalleled record of Picasso's creativity through clay.
*The term "edition" refers to works created by Picasso in collaboration with skilled artisans at the Madura workshop in the town of Vallauris in the south of France.
