On November 29th, Louis Vuitton opened its first street-level store in Shinjuku. Located at the Shinjuku 3-Chome intersection, across from the Isetan Shinjuku store, this is the brand's third store in the Shinjuku area, following the Odakyu Shinjuku and Shinjuku Takashimaya stores.
The store has two floors. The first floor offers a lineup of women's bags, small leather goods, and accessories. A spiral staircase leads to the second floor, where travel luggage, men's items, women's shoes, and women's ready-to-wear clothing are available for the first time in the Shinjuku area. A stunning spiral art chandelier featuring approximately 42,000 figures by Korean artist Suh Do-ho hangs from the center of the first-floor atrium. Do-ho held an exhibition at Espace Louis Vuitton in Paris in 2008.
In addition, focusing more on the brand's fashion, the new "ICON COLLECTION" line will be available in its entirety, making it the most extensive selection in Japan. The SS14 items on sale feature colorful colors inspired by architect Charlotte Perriand. The line's mini clutch bag, "Damier Color Élémon" (79,800 yen), is available exclusively at this store.
The facade is decorated with Damier, one of the brand's iconic patterns. The window currently features a special installation by Sofia Coppola featuring Bambi, balloons, and giant peonies, which was featured in the window displays of the long-established Paris department store Bon Marché in October this year. It will run until mid-January.
The opening ceremony took place the day before, on the 28th, with actress Yoko Maki cutting the ribbon alongside Louis Vuitton Japan Chairman Emmanuel Prat and Louis Vuitton Japan President & CEO Frédéric Grainger.
