MUJI O2O app "MUJI Passport" wins Gold Award at Yahoo! Internet Awards

Ryohin Keikaku's free smartphone app, "MUJI Passport," won a Gold Award in the Smart Device App category of the Yahoo! Japan Internet Creative Awards 2013, a corporate category. After a nomination process in September and a final judging session, the award ceremony and announcement of the results took place on November 27th. MUJI Passport is an app equipped with useful shopping features, such as "MUJI Miles," which can be earned by shopping at stores nationwide or online, or by checking in at a store, and a "Shopping Guide" function that allows users to check the store's inventory for desired products. The app itself doubles as a membership card, allowing users to receive points and coupons simply by presenting it at the time of purchase. The service launched on May 15th and has surpassed one million downloads. The Yahoo! Japan Internet Creative Awards are Yahoo! Japan's initiative to explore the possibilities of the new world of smart devices and to discover and support talent. The corporate category was open to smart device advertisements, apps, websites, services, etc. that were released between August 21, 2012 and August 12 this year and were used for the branding of companies and various organizations or to promote their products and services. This year's Grand Prix was awarded to Honda Motor Co.'s camera app "ROADMOVIES."
