Nicolas Ghesquière becomes artistic director of Louis Vuitton

On the 4th, Louis Vuitton announced that Nicolas Ghesquière has been appointed artistic director of women's wear. Nicolas' first collection will be unveiled at Paris Fashion Week in March 2014 during the 2014-15 Autumn/Winter season. Louis Vuitton released a statement on its official Facebook page stating, "We are excited to welcome Nicolas." Nicolas Ghesquière was born in France in 1971. He worked for Jean Paul Gaultier and other brands before becoming the designer for Balenciaga. His career history is detailed in an interview in the May 2007 issue of Numero Tokyo. His collections, which reinterpreted Monsieur Balenciaga's archives in a modern and futuristic style, were well-received and led to the revival of the Maison. He resigned after the Spring/Summer 2013 season. His future plans were closely watched.
