
Grand Hyatt Tokyo is offering a limited-time menu to celebrate the New Year. At Shunbou, a Japanese restaurant on the sixth floor, they are offering a special "Three-Tiered New Year's Eve" (70,000 yen), a limited edition of 50 dishes, meticulously crafted by artisans. The first tier includes deep-fried spiny lobster, herring roe, turnip, sesame beans, Chinese ink, flounder wrapped in dragonfly kelp, and salmon wrapped in hosho paper. The second tier includes grilled bonito flounder with yuzuan sauce, Spanish mackerel marinated in miso, teriyaki yellowtail, rolled egg, eel rolled in Yawata, sweetfish roe simmered in syrup, ginger sprouts, Japanese Black Beef marinated in Kyoto-style broth, and smoked duck. The third tier includes tortoiseshell taro, simmered local chicken, simmered shrimp, lotus root, burdock, Arihira konjac, and carrot with plum. Reservations are open until December 20th, and collection will be from 11:30am to 4pm on December 31st.
From January 1st to 31st, 2017, Fiorenale Pastry Boutique on the first floor will be offering sweets that make great New Year's gifts. They will be selling "Zodiac Cookies (Rooster)" (800 yen), which are based on the zodiac animal of the year for next year, and "Galette des Rois" (3,800 yen), a popular traditional French pastry eaten at New Year's.
