On June 22nd, Demna Gvasalia's Balenciaga held its first men's runway show in its 99-year history. Held at the Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague private middle and high school, the brand showcased its Spring/Summer 2017 men's collection, highlighting the beauty of tailoring renowned for haute couture fashion. Contrasting boxy silhouettes characterized by broad shoulders with tighter silhouettes, the collection showcased the unique design and beautiful textures inherited from the days of Cristóbal Balanciaga himself. Jackets with large shoulder pads, specially developed for this season, were paired with tight-fitting pants, highlighting the difference between top and bottom. Meanwhile, jackets with an extremely fitted fit featured indented shoulder pads, highlighting the narrow shoulders. Each silhouette, while extreme, offered a fresh perspective.

Big shoulder bags were also used on MA-1 jackets and blousons, coordinated with baggy pants accented with long chains. For the formal look at the end of the show, purple, red, and black materials, which are used in the robes of clergy in the Vatican, were used to create a unique worldview. Cummerbunds and shawls were also effective accents. Also making an appearance was the shopping bag-style leather bag "CARRY," which attracted attention.
