On June 22nd, the first day of the Paris 17 Spring/Summer Men's Collection, Hiromichi Ochiai's FACETASM held a show at his showroom in Paris's 11th arrondissement.
After two seasons of exhibitions in Paris, the brand made its European debut in Milan last year with support from Giorgio Armani, but this was its first show in Paris. This year, the brand was also selected as a finalist for the LVMH Prize, and the show attracted much attention from inside and outside the industry.
The collection featured a subtly asymmetrical jacket with a combination of different fabrics, a white cotton shirt wrapped like a shawl in knit rib, a checked T-shirt with an ostrich feather sewn onto the back, and a basket shirt featuring patchwork with offset numbers. These pieces were paired with denim pants featuring tie-and-dye motifs and relaxed-fit pants. The unexpectedness of the pieces was surprisingly comfortable. Casual and sporty, yet exuding an artistic vibe, the finished look also had a pop element, making it look fresh from every angle.
"FACETASM" is a coined word derived from "Facet," which means face, but just like the brand name, the style remains the same, combining multifaceted elements and utilizing their misalignments and inconsistencies to move back and forth between a sense of incongruity and unity, resulting in a collection that furthers the essence of FACETASM.
