Jul 18, 2016

"TOKYO CRAFT MARKET | Season 02: Summer 2016," focusing on traditional Japanese crafts and global craftsmanship, will be held on July 23rd and 24th at the United Nations University Courtyard Plaza in Aoyama, Tokyo. The venue will feature approximately 60 artisans and craft shops, selling a variety of items, including wooden furniture, lacquerware, ceramics, indigo dyeing, cotton textiles, leather goods, handmade shoes, and craft items from Mexico and Africa. The three-sided glass display case offers excellent visibility, and items include a showcase by demode fukunaka, featuring pale hues created using the traditional Japanese dye "persimmon tannin," Miyajima papier-mâché by Yamahibikiya, crafted in Miyajima, Hiroshima Prefecture, and cherry blossom and chestnut spatulas by Okubo House Woodworking. Craft food, including tea, Japanese sweets, sake, beer, and coffee, will also be available. In addition, enzyme syrup shaved ice, made with plenty of fruit from the farmers who set up stalls at the Farmer's Market @UNU, held every weekend in front of the United Nations University, will also be sold, with a limit of 150 servings per day. Guests can enjoy shaved ice made with plums from Kikushima Seiyodo Higashi Branch in Yamanashi and island pineapples from Nouya on Ishigaki Island.
