Bulgari's "Monete" watch, featuring an ancient Roman coin, is now available in a Japan-exclusive model

Jun 1, 2020
Bvlgari's iconic "Monete" collection, featuring ancient Roman coins, is being offered in its first Japan-exclusive model. The collection includes a brooch combining a silver coin with three colors of gold: yellow, white, and pink, and a sautoir featuring a silver coin with pink gold and pavé diamonds, or white gold and pavé diamonds.

For centuries, Bvlgari has paid homage to its heritage while breathing new life into it. By bringing a modern splendor to rare ancient Roman coins, which hold immeasurable historical value, this timeless Roman heritage is reborn in a contemporary design, preserving its original beauty.

The practice of using coins in jewelry, which is said to have begun in the 7th century BC, has long been cherished as works of art. In the 1960s, Bvlgari's Monete collection, which transformed ancient Roman coins into jewelry, was born as a homage to this ancient tradition.

The rare silver coins featured in the Japan-exclusive model are one depicting the emperors and royalty of ancient Rome from the Imperial era, and another depicting Alexander the Great from ancient Greece. Drawing on Bvlgari's unique heritage and artistic creativity, they are expressed in a modern design that beautifully harmonizes brilliance and elegance with a sparkling presence.

The Monete TOKYO Limited Edition Model will be released in limited quantities in June 2020.
