The imposing presence of Gothic architecture and the intricate ornamentation carved into its surfaces—translated into silver accessories worn on the body. GOTHIC Yohji Yamamoto, the silver accessory line of Yohji Yamamoto POUR HOMME, will hold its first-ever silver accessory POP UP STORE from August 26 at the Men’s Building, Isetan Shinjuku.

The pop-up will introduce the brand’s first eyewear incorporating silver, alongside new necklaces and bracelets. Extending further into bags and apparel, the selection brings the dark, sculptural world of GOTHIC Yohji Yamamoto into three-dimensional form.
GOTHIC Yohji Yamamoto draws upon the imposing presence of Gothic architecture and the distinctive world created by its ornamental sculpture. Spires, sculptural details, and layers of intricate decoration—the forms that characterize Gothic architecture function both as structural elements and as ornamentation with a powerful visual presence.

By translating that sensibility to a smaller scale, GOTHIC Yohji Yamamoto brings it onto the body. Symbolic motifs such as crosses and skulls are transformed into sculptural forms to be worn as silver accessories.
Rather than simply adding ornament, the pieces can also be understood as introducing the contrasting texture of silver into the silhouettes and world of black created by Yohji Yamamoto’s clothing.
One of the new pieces defining the pop-up is GOTHIC Yohji Yamamoto’s first eyewear design incorporating silver, priced at JPY 156,200 (tax included).

Silver ornamentation is placed on the face—one of the areas of the body that naturally draws the eye. Unlike a ring or necklace, eyewear is fundamentally a functional object designed to support vision. By bringing ornament into this functional form, GOTHIC extends its aesthetic into a new territory.

The pop-up will also introduce four new necklace designs and three new bracelets. Worn in different ways and incorporated into different styles, the pieces offer multiple expressions of the brand’s sculptural language.
For this pop-up, the world of GOTHIC Yohji Yamamoto extends beyond accessories. A leather bag featuring a cross motif will be available in advance at the Men’s Building, Isetan Shinjuku. Priced at JPY 154,000 (tax included), the bag is scheduled for general release on September 4.

The apparel selection will also include pieces created specifically for the POP UP STORE, including a leather blouson adorned with silver charms, a skull silk hat emblematic of GOTHIC, patchwork blouses featuring motifs such as goat skulls, and printed cut-and-sewn pieces.
Silver, leather, and textiles. By extending GOTHIC motifs and forms across different materials, the pop-up expands the language of a silver accessory line into a broader vision of style.
Black is one of the defining elements of Yohji Yamamoto’s clothing. Against that black, silver catches the light and brings its contours into sharp relief. The tension created when the sculptural presence of an accessory meets the silhouette of a garment is also part of the distinctive appeal of GOTHIC Yohji Yamamoto.
The pieces presented here, however, do not simply reproduce Gothic as a historical style. Instead, the weight and presence of Gothic architecture and the sensibility of ornamental sculpture are translated into contemporary objects—eyewear, necklaces, bracelets, bags, and clothing.
As the first POP UP STORE dedicated to the silver accessory line at Isetan Shinjuku, the event offers an opportunity to experience GOTHIC Yohji Yamamoto not only through individual accessories, but through the relationship between Yohji Yamamoto’s clothing, the body, and ornament.
