This spring, many cherry blossoms bloomed around the Meguro River where the DEAN & DELUCA Cafe is located, allowing for the harvesting of high-quality honey. This honey, with its rich, nutritious flavor that only unheated honey can offer, will be sold in limited quantities at our online store, Market Store Hiroo, and Ebisu store.
"DEAN & DELUCA Nakameguro Sakura Honey" is characterized by its overwhelming aroma. This is because, compared to heated honey, the flavor, floral aroma, enzymes, and other nutrients that can only be enjoyed from unheated honey are not destroyed. The luxurious aroma, reminiscent of sakura mochi, wafts through your nose, and the smooth texture brings an indescribable sense of happiness.
First, enjoy it as is, but if you want to pair it with something, try yogurt or goat cheese. If possible, try homemade yogurt made with your own culture. We recommend a combination of your favorite fruits and nuts.

A special menu using this honey will be available over the summer at the cafe at Tokyo College of Music in Daikanyama, Tokyo, where honey is harvested on the rooftop.

What local production and consumption teaches us—The story of how Nakameguro honey is made

The honey we're introducing today is made using "urban beekeeping." Urban beekeeping, a form of beekeeping that has been taking place in urban areas such as central Tokyo for about 15 years, is based on the concept of "biodiversity." We'd like to share the passion behind this initiative, which began with a meeting with Futoshi Ota, the representative of Ome Farm, a honey harvester.

May 22nd is International Day for Biological Diversity.
This international treaty, adopted at a United Nations conference on this day in 1992, not only calls for the conservation of biodiversity but also stipulates the "sustainable use" of various natural resources. We believe that "true deliciousness is a step toward the future," and we will continue to do everything we can to ensure that the honey harvested during this time will continue to be delicious.
