A study in perspective: the way our perspective determines our perception and scale, and the silhouettes they create. Surrounded by Lynda Benglis's enormous fountain, viewers gazed at the runway from wide angles and from below, overwhelmed by a certain grandeur. The silhouettes, with their long legs, high waists, and compact busts, also invited such a perspective.

Elongated proportions, gestures, and explorations of construction make the simple euphemistic and the subtle bold. The collection includes blazers, coats, banker shirts, knit polos, twin sets, argyle knitwear, jeans, and chinos. Each piece is twisted, its apparent ordinariness deceiving the eye. Crystals filter the surface, creating intricate stripes and pinstripes. Dynamic cuts transform bodies into structures. Shoes grow into trousers, seemingly emerging from the earth.

More LOEWE than ever, the unexpected subverts things. A giant top like a fabric swatch, pierced with pins. Accessories become part of the garment. A crystal hummingbird on a shredded brocade top. Glamorously embellished sunglasses.

A considered color palette. Soft hues and solid blues, black and khaki. Round-toe Chelsea boots, sandals and ballet flats. Oversized bags like the suede Pebble Bucket Bag and Puzzle Tote are a study in proportion.

About the Artworks
The show's set revolves around three fountains created by artist Linda Benglis (born 1941 in Louisiana, USA). Over a career spanning six decades, Benglis has redefined the work of art through constant innovation in form and materiality, exploring the unpredictable behavior of fluids. Her kinetic and physical approach to materials as diverse as bronze, polyurethane, latex, glitter, paper, plaster, and water has challenged the boundaries of traditional sculpture.

Benglis' first fountain was The Wave of the World, created for the 1984 New Orleans World's Fair. The show features three works: Crescendo (1983-84/2014-15), an evolution of The Wave of the World, with its dramatic, overhanging forms evoking crashing waves and volcanic eruptions; and Bounty, Amber Waves, Fruited Plane (2021), three massive copper towers whose stacked, flower-like forms evoke the growth of life and the explosion of frozen water. Knight Mer (2007-2022) rises from the water like an algae-covered rock. Magnificent yet intimate, Benglis's fountain pulsates with life, igniting an infectious energy that stimulates the senses and instincts.
