[Tokyo Collection 2013 Spring/Summer] "Motonariono" reveals the inside of the clothes they create

Dec 2, 2012

Motonari Ono's Spring/Summer 2013 collection featured an unusual presentation, with models carrying dressed torsos and displaying them on stage. After the show, the audience was given a chance to view the torsos up close, like an installation.

Models wore floral dresses and carried the torsos in front of them as they walked down the runway. The collection featured chic tones of beige, pink, and black, accented with ruffles and lace, as well as deeper shades of red and mustard. Lace accents and layering throughout, combined with floral patterns, offered a romantic yet feminine style. The jackets also featured structured, body-conscious silhouettes.

After the torsos were lined up, it was the models' turn. A sheer silk organza dress featured exposed seams and different-colored piping as a design accent. Designer Makoto Onohara said, "I wanted to showcase the beauty of the interior of the clothes. I designed it to highlight the fine craftsmanship and fine Japanese accessories." She continued making adjustments right up until the start of the show, tweeting pictures of herself sewing in a taxi on the way to the venue.
