[Tokyo Collection 2013 Spring/Summer] A Trip to Wonderland with Aliceauaa's Goth British Style

Dec 2, 2012

Alice Au Au Au presented their Spring/Summer 2013 collection. Fans dressed in all black flocked to the venue. The theme was "ALICE IN WONDER LAND IN ME," combining designer Yasutaka Funakoshi's experiences in London with Alice in Wonderland.

A young girl playing in the forest was projected onto the screen, inviting the audience into Wonderland with a rabbit costume. Starting with Alice, the collection featured the Mad Hatter in a huge top hat and tailcoat, a tartan-checked Cheshire Cat with a spiraling tail, and a trench coat with another one hanging from the left sleeve, inspired by the twins Tweedledum and Tweedledee. A rabbit appeared midway through the story, entwining British tastes with gothic fashion.

The collection powerfully expressed a gothic feel with puff sleeves, crinolines, and excessive frills and lace, and at the end there was a surprise when a rabbit appeared, then took off its head and the designer gave a greeting. "I want to create something that can be enjoyed as an entrance to a deep world. I'm happy to be called weird," said Funakoshi, who has been running the brand for 18 years, speaking of his beliefs.
