Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd., the developer of MUJI, will open an industry-academia collaborative store, "MUJIcom Musashino Art University Ichigaya Campus," on July 18th in the Co-Creation Studio on the first floor of Musashino Art University's Ichigaya Campus, which opened in April.

This will be the first time that MUJI has opened a store on a university campus, and the decision to open the store resonated with Musashino Art University's Ichigaya Campus philosophy of "creative thinking skills nurtured through design to create new value by applying it to solving real-world problems."

With the aim of being a "store that is useful to the local community," the store features a sales space selling carefully selected daily necessities and food, as well as a "com Studio" created as a place to foster creativity for children and adults alike, and an "Open Market" created as a space to sell items created in collaboration between Musashino Art University, local governments, companies, and the local community.
The store will be run as a place where students can put their ideas into practice through classes, by selling the things they have made, eating them, and operating the system, and as a community space where these experiments can create communication that transcends differences in age, culture, and region.

"com Studio" sells waste and offcuts. It is equipped with the space and tools to allow for free processing, making it a place where people can discover new value through their creations. Various events are also planned, and silkscreen workshops are being held until July 21st.

Open Market, a space run by Musashino Art University, aims to be a place for co-creation with the local community, not just a place to sell things but also a catalyst for creating communication. Designs for the stalls to be used there will be solicited from Musashino Art University students, with the grand prize winning design to be adopted.

The cafe space, which will be operated as a school cafeteria, will offer a daily set meal (800 yen) where you can enjoy delicious, safe and secure deli food, a daily bento box (600 yen) made with an emphasis on the flavor of the ingredients, sandwiches (180 yen and 300 yen), and more. Open to non-students as well, the cafe is open from 7:30am to 9pm on weekdays. In addition to the food menu, alcoholic beverages will also be served, and the cafe aims to be a space where local residents can take a break throughout the day.
The flexible space will also function as a venue for lectures, workshops, open classes, and more.

From July 18th to September 30th, as part of the opening event, an exhibition titled "Let's Start Here, a New Learning Space for Everyone" will be held. The exhibition showcases ideas from Musashino Art University, MUJI staff, and local residents on "what kind of society should we aim for through learning in 100 years, and what should we do to achieve that?"
Other services available include 100-yen coffee, "MUJI BOOKS," a lineup of books curated from MUJI's perspective, and a nursing space.
